A Boring Self Portrait (2024)
Acrylic on Illustration Board
22" x 30"

For this self-portrait, I tied up a small mirror to a string that hung down from my wall, and did the entire painting while laying on my bed and looking up at the mirror.

I have had eight of my teeth pulled out in total so far. Sometimes, going to the dentist is as familiar as laying down on my bed.

The constant strain in my face muscles and struggle of holding up the illustration board with my legs really simulates the tense yet extremely boring dentist sessions.

North Caf (2024)
Oil on Canvas
24" x 36"

My high school cafeteria holds four years of faint memories of many acquaintances. I painted this piece at the end of my Junior year. It was my first time working on a larger life oil painting piece, and the process involved a lot of staying in the cafeteria all day only to get a little done. However, by the time I finished the painting, the sense of fulfillment makes the hard work fun and worthwhile. The same can be said about my high school experience.
